The North American rights to the Venezuelan documentary “La Danubio” have been purchased by Freestyle Digital Media. Beginning Nov. 9, the movie will be accessible for purchase and rental on platforms in North America.

“La Danubio” highlights the voices of the Kerese family, which consists of Evelia and her three children Pablo, Andrés, and Alejandro, and offers an inside look at how a 50-year-old pastry shop in the Venezuelan capital has been able to flourish for as long as it has. Ignacio Castillo Cottin wrote, produced, and directed the documentary.

Living in Venezuela and remaining here voluntarily is something to be told. The ability to envision oneself in Venezuela in the medium or long term is now difficult to find for anyone who wish to work and invest there, according to Cottin. “My generation and those that will come after us only have experience with the opposite: individuals escaping the nation as quickly as they can.
